Why Is Inconel So Expensive?

Q:  What makes Inconel bolts so expensive?
A: What gives Inconel 600, 625 and 718 bolts their unique properties of high temp resistance, strength, as well as excellent corrosion resistance is the inclusion of chromium and nickel. These are expensive alloys and in current market conditions, nickel pricing is changing daily due to supply shortages. In addition, Inconel 718 is heat treated after production. This extra step gives Inconel 718 bolts it’s very high strength capabilities. This also adds to the cost of the material.
