Titanium, Monel & Hastelloy for 100% Salt-Saturated Brine Water

Q: I am dealing with near 100% salt saturated brine water @ 195°F. I need material recommendations and price on threaded rod that will survive in that environment.

A: Hello, with 100% saturated brine at near boiling temperatures of 195F there are a few materials that can work . Bolts or threaded rod made from Hastelloy C276, Monel, or Titanium are all good for Saturated NaCl up to Boiling or 212F.  Depending on what your strength requirements may dictate which material is best.  From a price point of view, there are all in a similar ball park unless you are looking for the higher strenth Ti5 or Monel K500.
