PEEK for High Strength Electrical Insulation

Q: We are looking for high shear strength non-conductive flat head screws being used for electrical insulation. The screws need to have a high shear strength quality as other plastics screws we have tried have broken. Do you have a material you can recommend?

A: With regards to a polymer fastener, you might want to consider our glass reinforced PEEK screws. Glass reinforced PEEK has nearly double the tensile strength of natural PEEK. PEEK fasteners that are reinforced with glass fiber are very tough and non-conductive.  Here is a strength chart you can refer to. We can also chat as to other materials that may be a good fit.
