Molybdenum Screws for 1000°C High Vacuum

Q: We are interested in a fastener material that can work at 1000°C in high vacuum? Do you have any suggestions?
A: For high temperature vacuum environments, a great material to consider for your fasteners would be Molybdenum screws. Molybdenum screws have an extremely high melting point of over 2600°C combined with a low coefficient of thermal expansion – so they can withstand extreme heat without losing strength and shape. Molybdenum works excellent in vacuum environments, but when this refractory metal is exposed to oxygen above 600°C, it will rapidly oxidize.
