Hastelloy for Formic Acid

Q: We are a producer of a preservative agent for livestock feed. Our process requires the use of formic acid. Any suggestions on an anti-corrosive bolt that can handle this acid?
A: For formic acid I would typically suggest Hastelloy C276 or Hastelloy C22 but it always depends on concentration and temerpature. See this chart. Hastelloy bolts are ideal for corrosion resistance from formic acid even up to the boiling point and should work for your application.
