A286 ASTM F2281 for Temperatures up to 1800°F

Q: I’m a purchasing agent and one of our engineers is requesting a 1/2″-13 x 2″ hex head bolt that is material A286 meeting F2281? What is F2281 mean?
A: Good question.  F2281 is a national standards specification put in place by the ASTM. An A286 bolt that meets the F2281 is one that meets specific chemical and mechanical requirements. This specification is important for processes where heat and the effects of high temperature are critical and guarantees the fasteners will meet certain standards and be tested to them.
