Alloy 926 Bolts for Improved Corrosion Resistance to 316

Q: I have some 316 bolts that are experiencing slight corrosion from a mild chloride environment. I need an economic solution but a more corrosion resistant material. Any ideas?
A: You have a few options here but you should consider a class of alloys called 6 Mo or 6 Moly alloys (AL6XN, SMO254 and Alloy 926). These alloys offer improved resistance over 316 in chlorides and salt water.  If greater strength is needed you could step it up to Super Duplex 2507 bolts which offer similar corrosion resistance but with added strength of 125 ksi tensile strength (compared to 94 ksi of Alloy 926)
