PEEK vs Torlon Fasteners for Non-Conductivity & Salt Water

Q: I’m looking for a polymer washer that can be used as a dielectric break between aluminum and titanium. It will also be exposed to salt water. Is torlon a good choice?

A: Torlon washers will work in this situation, but there are probably more cost efficient solution for this kind of application. Torlon is amazing polymer but really shines in high temperature applications. Another polymer worth considering is PEEK, as it is non-conductive, chemically resistant, and does not absorb water. PEEK fasteners are also a fraction of the price compared to Torlon, so unless you need a polymer to survive at high temperatures (250C-300C) then PEEK is probably a better option.
