A: In terms of strength, there are many grades of steel and stainless steel. Some of them are even cold-worked for added strength. So to compare Monel to “steel” would be a very broad question – and  difficult to answer without knowing the specific grade  and its specifications. For reference, Monel 400 will provide slightly improved strength over standard 316 bolts, whereas Monel K500 will be over double the strength.
